Police have now appealed for information after Biddulph firefighters had to work throughout the night to help put out a large blaze in the Moorlands that is thought to have been started deliberately.

A crew from Biddulph joined several others around the Moorlands to tackle a large blaze in Cheadle on Monday evening.

Biddulph Nub News reported how there had been worries throughout the night that the fire was getting too close to properties nearby, but luckily it was brought under control before it could spread to them.

Fire crews were initially called just before 6pm on Monday evening, but the fire was not completely extinguished until almost 8am the following morning.

The cause of the fire has been found to be deliberate ignition.

Staffordshire Police have now confirmed they are investigating the incident, and asked anyone with information to contact them.

A spokesperson for Staffordshire Police's Moorlands team said: "Officers are currently dealing with the enquiries and anyone that has any information can contact us on 101, via Facebook messenger, or via Twitter DMs and quote serial number 570 of 26th of April."
