Biddulph residents have called on Staffordshire County Council to act on areas of "dangerous" compacted ice around the town's roads and pavements.

Lynmouth Close was pointed out as a particularly treacherous area of ice, with residents also reporting ice issues on Lyneside Road, Lotus Avenue, Lyndhurst Drive and a range of other roads in the town.

Residents have been urged to report their streets to Staffordshire County Council to try and get the authority to take action.

Biddulph town and district councillor Jill Salt has also been asking the county council for support.

She said: "As a town and district councillor I have contacted Staffordshire Moorlands District Council who tell me it's a county job.

"I have collated all of your messages and sent reports to Cllrs Flunder and Lawson as our county councillors. I have followed that up again today.

"I have also reported via the county council online reporting system. I have now contacted the press to highlight our plight.

"This is no longer snow, it's compacted ice and it's damn right dangerous!

"Report your own street to be doubly sure using this link."

Residents have also been sharing their concerns on social media, with one saying: "I myself am feeling the effects of falling on Monday on Church Road - two days off work and still very sore."

Another added: "I have just reported a few roads that are still dangerous. If everyone else can do the same then we might get a result."

And a third said: "Villa close needs doing. Someone hit a wall the other day."

Biddulph Nub News recently shared the county council's interactive gritting map, which allows residents to see which streets in Biddulph are being gritted, and the locations of the town's grit bins. Click here if you would like to view it.

Biddulph Nub News has contacted Staffordshire County Council for comment.
