Biddulph residents have been encouraged to keep getting Coronavirus tests, with local centres currently being "very quiet".

Tests are being carried out at Biddulph leisure centre, as well as a range of other locations across the county.

Biddulph town and district Cllr Jill Salt is one of those making the call for residents to get tested, after recently being tested herself.

She said: "Get tested! If you are a volunteer, working, going to the supermarket, (basically leaving your house) you should get tested once a week, even though you are symptom free.

"Please please book a regular test at our leisure centre. They're very quiet and they shouldn't be."

Staffordshire County Council have also asked people in support or childcare bubbles who leave their homes to make essential trips to get tested in particular.

Dr Johnny McMahon Staffordshire County Council's Cabinet Member for Health, Care and Wellbeing, said: "It is important everyone stays at home wherever possible and no mixing with other households takes place.

"For the people who are legally entitled to form a support or childcare bubble we are strongly encouraging you to get tested regularly.

"We know that 1 in 3 people do not display any symptoms and that the new strain of coronavirus spreads far quicker.

"The best way to protect your bubble and break the chain of virus transmission is to follow the rules and to get tested on a regular basis.

"Tests are simple, free and you get your results in around 30 minutes."
