Biddulph residents have praised a large sign paying tribute to Captain Sir Tom Moore after it appeared in the town over the weekend.
The sign was parked near the Sainsbury's bypass, and is made of a large wooden board with the words "RIP Captain Tom" written on it, decorated with the England and United Kingdom flags and sitting on the back of a classic truck.
The sign was displayed in Biddulph on Saturday (27th February), which was the day of Captain Tom's funeral.
The 100-year-old, was knighted by the Queen in 2020 after he raised almost £33m for NHS charities by walking laps of his garden.
His funeral was held after he died with Coronavirus earlier in February.
It included a flypast from a World War Two-era plane, as well as renditions of You'll Never Walk Alone and the White Cliffs Of Dover by Dame Vera Lynn.
Biddulph residents have praised the sign's appearance in the town, with a photo of the sign reaching over 500 'likes' on social media.
One resident commented: "A beautiful tribute to a wonderful inspirational man."
Another said: "How lovely, caring and respectful."
While a third added: "That's nice for a very special man."
Biddulph Nub News reported previously how Staffordshire Moorlands District Council flew its flag at half mast to pay their respects to Captain Tom following his death.
It was also reported that new staff rest areas at Royal Stoke University Hospital will be named after Captain Tom.
