An arrest has been made after a group of youths were seen screaming and damaging cars on Biddulph streets late last night.

Police say a 19-year-old from the local area was arrested, and has since been bailed while enquiries continue.

The arrest was made after residents reported a group rampaging through Biddulph at around midnight last night (Tuesday).

The group were reportedly seen near several streets including Princess Street and Springfield Road, shouting and smashing the wing mirrors of cars parked nearby, among other incidents of criminal damage.

Police can be seen dealing with the incident in the image above captured by local resident Richard Betts, who said police acted quickly.

He told Biddulph Nub News: "Police acted quickly to sort it. Unfortunately there was damage to cars down the road, and we were shocked."

Residents also reported that a member of the group may have been carrying a knife, with other incidents of criminal damage including keying cars and slashing their tyres.

Police say they are continuing to make enquiries regarding the incident.

A Staffordshire Police spokesperson told Biddulph Nub News: "Following reports of criminal damage in the area of Springfield Road, Biddulph, last night (June 15) a 19-year-old from the local area was arrested.

"He has been bailed while enquiries continue."
