Around £8 million is set to be invested in school buildings around Staffordshire - and schools in Biddulph, Biddulph Moor and Brown Edge are on the list.

The measures, which were be discussed at the county council's Cabinet meeting on March 16, include refurbishing playgrounds, repairing roofs, and replacing old boilers and pipework for schools around the county.

We dug through the council's documents to find out which local schools were due to be funded for repairs, and what the money will be spent on.

There are three local schools earmarked for repairs funding, and they are listed below along with the work due to be completed in each school:

- Squirrel Hayes First School, Biddulph: Repairs and/or replacements to the windows

- Moor First School, Biddulph Moor: Ceiling and lighting works

- St Anne's CofE (VC) Primary School, Brown Edge: Mechanical works involving the hot water system

The county council says money will also be used to continue its "school decarbonisation programme" with 46 schools across the county to receive funding to reduce their carbon emissions.

Jonathan Price, Staffordshire County Council's Cabinet Member for Education said: "This year's investment in schools shows our commitment to ensuring the county's children are able to learn in an environment that benefits and aids their education. The investment will see upgraded facilities for many schools across the county.

"The decarbonisation programme in schools has been a particular success, with 51 schools already benefitting from a similar scheme last year. This year's plan to reduce the carbon emissions of 46 schools by replacing inefficient systems, improving insulation and making it easier to monitor energy usage, will directly contribute to our net zero carbon goal.

"Climate change affects all of us, so by using this money to do as much as we can to reduce our impact on the climate means we can secure a brighter future for the county's children."
