The greenery at a Biddulph burial ground has been allowed to grow for longer than usual to support the "huge numbers of bees" that are enjoying the area.

Biddulph Town Council says it was pleased to see the high amount of bees that the area was supporting, and decided to let the area at Woodhouse Burial Ground grow for slightly longer than usual.

The area is usually mowed every couple of weeks, and the council says that this will resume soon.

A spokesperson for Biddulph Town Council said: "We are enjoying the huge numbers of bees that are currently at the Woodhouse Burial Ground.

"We usually mow this area every couple of weeks, but we're going to let it grow just a little bit longer while they enjoy the clover. Normal service will resume soon!"

The idea of letting the area grow has proved popular, with many residents supporting it on social media.

One commented: "Thank you for allowing the bees to pollinate and thrive, well done Biddulph."

Another said: "Excellent, it looks lovely with the clover. Glad you are leaving it a while longer."
