Biddulph's bus hub could be used for a "weekly indoor market" as ideas were considered on how to give the building a new lease of life.
Holding markets in the building was one of a range of ideas proposed on how the area could be used at a meeting of Biddulph Town Council's Town and Community Committee.
Councillors held the discussion last night (Tuesday) to consider possible ways in which the bus hub could be revitalised.
Cllr Wayne Rogers suggested using the building as an indoor market selling specialist items.
He said: "We could use it for a weekly indoor market with specialist stalls for things like cheeses. I think that idea has got potential, as have some others."
Cllr Nigel Yates then suggested asking the public for offers on uses of the building, saying: "We could put it out to tender and see what people come up with for offers. That would broaden out the ideas base, but I do like Wayne's idea."
Cllr Kevin Jackson agreed that getting a range of ideas on how to use the bus hub would be a good idea, saying: "There is the possibility to use it for the night time economy too. It will be our decision but we could try and get several ideas for the use of it."
And Cllr Alistair McLoughlin noted the bus hub's potential, adding: "It has got so much potential to be used for many different things. We could have a timetable for it and use it for different things on different days throughout the year."
Councillors agreed to try and find a range of ideas on what the building could be used for and continue the discussion at next month's meeting.
