Businesses across the Moorlands, including several in Biddulph, have showcased the measures they have taken to ensure the safety of staff and customers as shoppers return to the High Street.

It comes in the form of a new video made as part of the #ShopSafelyInStaffs campaign, a project from Stoke-on-Trent and Staffordshire Growth Hub, working in partnership with Staffordshire Moorlands District Council, to support residents returning to their high streets as the Government lockdown eases.

A number of Biddulph businesses are featured in the video, with local people explaining the importance of the High Street.

Paul Carter, at Mortgage and Protection for Life, said: "We've looked at the guidelines and introduced what we think is a safe place for us to work, and also a place where people can come and feel safe.

"We are back doing what we've always done, so people can know that we're here, and that we're a safe place to be."

Gary Owen, of Lilyann Interiors, added: "It's more important than ever to support your local High Street. Biddulph isn't a big town, but it's got a lot to offer.

"Every retailer on the High Street's main focus is the customer, so they can have 100% confidence that they can shop local."

Sarah Haydon, chief officer at Biddulph Town Council, also featured in the video, saying: "We really want businesses in Biddulph to thrive, so we want people to come back into town and remember what there is on the High Street."

Nicola Kent, Growth Hub Manager, said: "We are now in a transition period as lockdown restrictions ease.

"Businesses across the Moorlands have taken steps to ensure their staff and customers are safe and welcoming shoppers back, with a range of protective measures and protocols in place, as well as new business models, such as click/call and collect.

"To boost confidence and support the local economy, we are now encouraging those businesses which have taken such steps to highlight what they have to offer and demonstrate how we can all #ShopSafelyInStaffs.

"Staffordshire is an amazing county and it's really important that we support the businesses on our doorstep and keep it local."
