Two events that are due to take place in Biddulph this weekend will still go ahead after the death of the Queen.

Firstly, the Biddulph Classic Vehicle Show is returning for 2022, and will be held at 2pm on Saturday, 10th September on Biddulph High Street.

Then, the second ever Biddulph Beer and Music Festival also gets underway later that day.

From 5pm - 11pm, there will be a range of local ales and ciders on offer, as well as live music over two stages.

Following the sad news yesterday that the Queen had passed away, some residents may have been wondering whether these events would be cancelled.

But Biddulph Town Council has now confirmed that they will go ahead as planned.

A spokesperson for the council said: "Thank you to those who have been waiting for an update in relation to tomorrow's planned events.

"We have waited for national guidance and advice following the death of HM Queen Elizabeth II as to the protocol around the Proclamation Day.

"Based on the level of investment, travel commitments and charitable aims of the events tomorrow, organisers have decided to continue as originally planned.

"The Classic Vehicle Show and the Mayor's Beer and Music Festival will proceed as previously advertised, with a more solemn tone to both events."
