Biddulph Doctors have asked residents to bear with them as they work to roll out the Covid-19 vaccine in the town.

The surgery says it is "working hard" to roll the vaccines out to priority groups.

Residents were also asked not to contact Biddulph Doctors about getting the vaccine, and have been told that they will be contacted when it is their turn to receive it.

In an update posted earlier today, they said: "Please bear with us as we're working hard to roll out the vaccines to priority groups, including those aged 80 years of age and over, care home staff, as well as NHS staff considered to be a risk, as more vaccine becomes available in the coming weeks.

"We ask that you do not contact the practice to arrange a vaccination, we will contact you when the time is right."

Both the Pfizer and Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccines are currently in the process of being rolled out and delivered around the country.

The Government has set a target to vaccinate 13 million people in the top four priority groups by the middle of February. This would mean all over 70s, front line healthcare workers and all of the most vulnerable people would be vaccinated by then if this target is met.

Around 1.3 million people have already received the first dose of the vaccine, which includes nearly a quarter of the most elderly and vulnerable people in the country.
