One of the most popular events in the Biddulph calendar is taking place this weekend, and all the details have been confirmed ahead of the big day.

The Christmas Lights Switch On is taking place on the High Street on Saturday, and there will be a great variety of fun activities to enjoy.

A spokesperson for Biddulph Town Council provided more information about the switch on.

They said: "The fun fair and market will be open from 4.30pm along with several free children's activities taking place outside the Conservative Club on the High Street.

"Lots of free entertainment on the Town Hall steps by our talented Biddulph children.

"The big switch-on is at 6pm followed by the arrival of Santa. Children can visit Santa in the Town Hall for free where they will receive a free goodie bag with complimentary hot chocolate and mince pies whilst they are in the queue with the choir singing.

"We look forward to seeing you there!"
