Biddulph High School students left without Covid tests due to delivery error
Biddulph High School students were left without Coronavirus testing kits to to a problem in how the kits were sent out.
The issue has affected many schools around the country, including Biddulph High School.
Since returning to schools in March, pupils have been expected to carry out tests at home twice a week, with education secretary Gavin Williamson saying the tests would provide "another layer of reassurance to parents and education staff that schools are as safe as possible".
However, since the Easter break, schools around the country said they had not been receiving their tests as expected.
A spokesperson for Biddulph High School said on Monday that parents should request their own testing kits from Biddulph Valley Leisure Centre in the meantime.
They said: "I have been informed that the deliveries last week were not sent out correctly (out of our control). We should have had new stock on Tuesday and they failed to deliver to about 20,000 schools.
"The school gave out what they had on Monday at testing but ran out on Y9 band B so they didn't get any like the other year groups. We had to request an urgent delivery and they are expected today.
"Parents were asked to request a kit from the leisure centre in the meantime. Hopefully the kits will come this morning and we can send B band some home today. I'm sorry for the delay and hopefully all will be resolved."
