Biddulph Valley Leisure Centre's swimming pool is reopening from this weekend (Saturday, 1st August).

In preparation for the opening, staff are undergoing intensive training sessions to update their lifeguard qualifications and understand new procedures for staff and customers.

Biddulph Nub News reported recently how the leisure centre reopened last weekend (Saturday, 25 July) after being closed for months due to Coronavirus.

The phased reopening included reduced numbers of participants and opening hours, and all users were required to book their sessions and classes in advance.

The pool's reopening will also see a number of differences to what its users will be used to, with a spokesperson for the leisure centre saying:

"We have been working hard behind the scenes at Biddulph and things will look a little different. Everyone will need to book their session via the app or the website. You cannot book in person at the pool as we need to manage the swimming numbers safely.

"Each session will start on the hour and last for 50 minutes, the pool will then be prepared for the next guests. Only lane swimming and Aqua aerobics will take place.

"We know that this is very sad but there will be no open swim sessions, we have to ensure social distancing. Families can swim together in lanes at specific times.

"You will need to arrive 'beach ready' as changing rooms WILL be open, although we do ask that you leave the changing rooms before the next session arrives. Toilet facilities will be open.

"We ask that all swimmers shower before entering the pool. Lockers WILL be in use. Our new timetable will soon be available via the website soon!

"We are really looking forward to welcoming you back at Biddulph Valley Leisure Centre, the pool looks stunning and we are nearly ready to open the doors. See you soon!"
