A Biddulph woman has found her calling - and wants to inspire you on your weight loss goals.
Katie Gordon, mother-of-two from Biddulph, started her weight loss journey in August 2016.
She went from 20 stone 10 lbs, to 10 stone 9 lbs: losing 10 stone and 1 pound over just 16 months.
However, Katie's passion for getting fit didn't just end after reaching her weight loss goal.
"It was only after I'd started having the PT myself that I realised it was actually something that could be enjoyable," Katie said.
"It was the best part of my week rather than the bit I'd be putting off and thinking of as just another chore to get done."
She is now a personal trainer at Congleton's Gymetc, the same gym where she started her journey, and where 40 per cent of their members are from Biddulph.
"I hit my target weight in December 2017, it was about the springtime that I decided I wanted to become a PT and I'd been having a PT for about 12 months," Katie also said.
"Then I did my training and became a PT in October 2018.
"A lot of people when they think of a PT, they think that it's just somebody that's always found it easy, and I don't think anybody finds it easy.
"When I say, well actually I've had my struggles as well, it kind of dispels that and so my clients can be honest with me when they've had certain struggles or there's something they're not finding as easy.
"I find that I can relate to them, and they can relate to me."
Katie has also just qualified for a female strength competition, which takes place in September 2022.
"When I was at my biggest, I had never picked up a weight, it just wasn't something I thought I'd ever want to do," Katie added.
"When I think, it wasn't even six years ago that I'd never properly stepped foot in a gym or enjoyed it, to now I'll be competing alongside some of Britain's strongest women at the UKNS UKS strongest u73 contest."
"It has just totally changed my life."
Katie works a variety of hours throughout the week, including daytime slots, early morning sessions and one evening a week.
Not only is Katie a good role model for her clients, but also for her children.
"I feel like I can set a good example for my kids, not just around exercise and nutrition, but also working hard and putting the time and effort into doing something that you love and something that you're passionate about," Katie also said.
"We spend such a big portion of our time working, you need to be doing something that you love rather than just watching the hours go by on the clock."
Katie still trains with her first personal trainer Scott Wood, as he helps with the strongest men and women competitions. Scott also works at Gymetc.
Scott said, "At first it was very much about weight loss and body composition, I suppose training for performance came later."
"She always had the qualities of a PT in her personality.
"She's a really good PT and really nice to work with, she always does everything right."
