A Biddulph musician is going from strength to strength ahead of her upcoming gig at the town hall in preparation for opening for Natalie Imbruglia at an upcoming festival.
We spoke to Emily Lockett back in 2020 when she told us about her up and coming career as a singer/songwriter.
At the time Emily was still studying for her music degree in Manchester, but despite still being a student her songs had won several awards.
Since then, Emily has graduated and released her third EP, with her fourth EP all written and recorded, ready to be launched at an upcoming gig right here in Biddulph.
Emily said: "Since my last interview, I've just graduated from university and completed my Songwriting degree, and my 3rd EP called Paint The Town Red released online in Nov 2021, and was awarded 8/10 by Maverick Music Magazine.
"As part of my final year project I've written and recorded a new EP called What The Hell Have I Got Myself Into?, it's another country/pop collection of 5 tracks, which was partly crowdfunded, and I was also awarded an arts grant from SMDC which helped out."
Her latest EP will be launched at a gig at Biddulph Town Hall on 23rd July, which will also be part of the Biddulph Festival, and everyone has been welcomed to come along. You can buy tickets here.
Also in July and August, Emily will be performing at Foodies Festival - a national festival tour celebrating food, drink and music.
Emily added: "The nearest the festival comes to Biddulph is at Tatton Park, Cheshire on 8 - 10 July, and then it visits another few cities before arriving at Oxford on 27 - 29 Aug.
"I'm performing at both these particular events, on 8th and 9th July and on 29th August. On 9th July I open for Lee and Simon from boyband Blue and on 29th August I open for Natalie Imbruglia."
