Police helped to bring about a happy reunion at the weekend after a lost dog was returned to its owner in Biddulph.

Officers found the dog in the town yesterday (Sunday) afternoon, and posted an appeal on social media, asking people to help them track down the pooch's owners.

The appeal was shared over 500 times by residents.

Police say the dog was chipped, but the chip couldn't be read at the time.

A Staffordshire Police spokesperson said yesterday: "This little guy has been found in Biddulph this afternoon.

"He has a chip but unfortunately it can't be read.

"If he's yours, please call us on 101 quoting incident 323 of today.

"He's being well looked after at the moment, but someone will be missing him."

Luckily, the dog was reunited with its owner on the same day.

A police spokesperson later added: "Happy to say that he has been reunited with his owner, thank you for the shares."
