Police in Biddulph have advised the town's residents to be aware after receiving reports of local people being targeted by scam phone calls.

Police have reminded the public not to give out any of their personal information on the phone if they feel unsure about the call.

Residents should also not be afraid to hang up a call if they are feeling pressured at any time.

The advice was issued by PCSO Clare Sartin, of Staffordshire Police's Biddulph neighbourhood policing team.

She said: "We have had a few reports of scam phone calls, including some saying they are from Amazon.

"If you receive a phone call that you are unsure about please don't give out any personal information. Remember your bank, the police or a legitimate organisation will never:

  • Ask for your PIN
  • Ask you to withdraw money to hand over to them
  • Ask you to transfer money to another account

"If you're suspicious or feel pressured or vulnerable, don't be afraid to say no to any requests for information and end the call."
