Biddulph residents asked for their views on how local parking can be improved

By Jack Lenton 9th Feb 2021

Residents and businesses are in Biddulph and the rest of the Moorlands are being asked to share their views on how parking can be improved.

Parking can have a wide ranging impact on travel flow, travel behaviour and the environments we live and work in.

Staffordshire Moorlands District Council is working with consultants Parking Matters to review its parking strategy - and is now asking the public for their views.

Councillor Edwin Wain, Cabinet member with responsibility for off-street parking in the district, said: "We provide off-street car parks for the benefit of residents, businesses and visitors and because we recognise the valuable role parking plays in supporting the vitality of our towns.

"We want to ensure our car parks are fit for the future, that they work for our communities and that they help our economy recover from the impacts of the Covid health pandemic.

"That's why we are reviewing our parking strategy - this work will help to identify the areas we should be focusing on to address any issues and ensure we are making best use of our car parks. The strategy will give us the framework and evidence we need to and guide our decisions on parking and enforcement.

"We're at an early stage and no decisions have yet been made. We know many people have views about car parking in the District so we now want to hear from you to help us shape the strategy as it develops.

"It's easy to tell us what you think - just go to our website and complete the online survey. It's quick and easy to do so please have a look and share your views - they are important to us."
