Biddulph residents warned of Covid vaccine scam texts
Biddulph residents have been asked to be aware of potential Covid-19 vaccine scam texts.
With the vaccine currently being rolled out around the country, many people in Biddulph and the rest of the country will be anticipating a message to inform them that it is their turn to receive the vaccine.
Unfortunately, police say some criminals have identified this as an opportunity to send their own fake vaccine texts in an attempt to scam people.
Scroll through the images above for advice on how to avoid these types of scams.
PCSO James Naylor, of Staffordshire Police's Moorlands team, said: "Due to the roll of out the new vaccine, many people are anticipating contact from health care professionals about the opportunity and turn to receive their dose.
"This is great news, but unfortunately, criminals are seeing this as an opportunity to lure people into clicking links on fraudulent text messages and emails, with the eager anticipation of vaccine news and cyber criminality, this could lead to a perfect storm if people aren't aware.
"Attached you will find some useful advice and an example of a scam text message currently circulating.
"Please be mindful of what text messages that you click on and what websites they may take you to."
