Coronavirus cases are still increasing in several areas of the Moorlands, despite an overall decline in cases across the district as a whole.

Cases have been declining across the UK over the last seven days, although signs of an increase are once again beginning to show.

The national trend of declining cases over the last week has been largely the same here in the Moorlands, although there are four areas where cases are actually still increasing.

Unfortunately one of those is in Biddulph, with the remaining three being in Leek.

The latest figures, which are for the seven days until July 23rd, show that Biddulph North and Brownlees had 32 cases, an increase of four compared to the previous seven days.

However, this rise is not as large as has occurred in Leek, with Leek East and Upper Hulme recording 22 cases, up 13 on the previous seven days.

Leek Town recorded 44 cases - an increase of 26, while Leek South and Cheddleton had 51 cases - an increase of 21.

Despite this though it's still largely positive news for the Moorlands, with Biddulph Nub News reporting recently how cases are declining despite these few local spikes.

It comes as local health bosses warned that the pandemic is not yet over, and reminded residents to keep getting tested and get vaccinated if they have not yet done so already.
