Thank you to Sue Ashman from Biddulph U3A for submitting this article. Sue has let us know that Biddulph U3A is restarting in September with a wide range of fun activities to take part in.
Biddulph U3A is getting ready to start up again and we are looking forward to welcoming members both returning and new in September. We are a local, social, friendly, low cost group providing opportunities for people who are no longer in full time work to stay active, learn new things, share their interests, have fun and make friends. Over 30 different interest groups run throughout the week here in Biddulph. These include Dance, Keep Fit, Painting, Crafts, Games, Sports, Genealogy and Complementary Therapies. A full list and details are available on the website (see below). Some of our Art and Photography groups' work will be on display in shop windows around town from 17th July and U3A members will be available at the Victoria Centre on the 24th to talk to about what we do. We will also be at the Artisan markets on the first Friday of the month and are hoping to hold an Open Day in the near future to highlight the whole range of activities available and to display examples of what our members do. Our base is at Lund House (formerly the GP surgery) on the corner of Well Street and Lawton Street. There is on site parking, and the 93 bus stops right outside the building. Some groups also meet at the Leisure Centre or the Library. As well as the groups and classes, we organise social events, such as Quiz Nights, Coffee Mornings and Day Trips, and have access to some national events across the UK, including the U3A Summer School programme.
