Biddulph's latest upcoming micro-pub has now applied for a license to serve alcohol.

Biddulph Nub News reported back in November how Staffordshire Moorlands District Council granted planning permission to convert The Yard milkshake shop on Biddulph High Street into a bar.

Now the plans to complete that conversion are rolling on with the application for a premises license to serve alcohol at the upcoming micro-pub at 35 High Street.

The pub's name has also been revealed in the application - it will be called The Crafty Flanker, and will be a micro-pub made up of two rooms predominantly selling real ale made from a local brewery just outside Biddulph.

The application adds that the target customer market for the micro-pub will be those aged 40 and over, and will target the early evening market, using the business to promote beers from Front Row Brewing, a local brewery located on a Congleton industrial estate.

No mainstream beers or alcopops will be sold (the application gives examples such as Carling and Stella Artois as examples of brands that won't be sold at the micro-pub).

The application also adds that the business "won't attract troublemakers as they probably won't like what we sell or the quiet atmosphere that will be encouraged with no music or TV".

If the application is granted, the premises will be allowed to serve alcohol from 3pm - 10pm on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays, from 3pm - 11pm on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays, and from 12pm - 8pm on Sundays.

Staffordshire Moorlands District Council will make the final decision on the application at a later date.

The application is currently under a public consultation period, but those who want to make comments will have to be quick as the consultation period ends today (Thursday).
