Brown Edge council vacancy will be filled by co-option after councillor stepped down
A vacant position for a Brown Edge parish councillor will be filled by co-option next month after the previous councillor stepped down from the role.
Biddulph Nub News reported previously how a vacancy arose at the council after Cllr Danielle Spooner stepped down from her role.
The vacancy would have been filled via an election if at least ten electors from Brown Edge wrote to ask for one within 14 days.
However, the sufficient number of letters was not received, meaning the vacancy will be filled by co-option.
Brown Edge Parish Council clerk Denise Wheat said in a statement: "Applicants should write to the clerk with a brief description of who you are and your association with the parish or Brown Edge, in addition to a statement about why you want to be a councillor for the parish.
"If you would like more information about what being a councillor involves, please contact the clerk who can send you some more information about the role.
"Applicants will then be asked to attend the meeting of Brown Edge Parish Council on Wednesday 4th November 2020 at 7.30pm on Zoom remote software to give a brief presentation to the council.
"A vote by the council will then decide the successful candidate.
"Any CVs and statements will only be used for there interest of filling this position and any information supplied will be destroyed securely following the 4th November meeting decision.
"Members of the public are welcome to attend the meeting but only the council can vote for the candidates."
