Coronavirus case numbers have taken a jump up in the Moorlands and Staffordshire after a technical glitch meant almost 16,000 cases around the country went unreported.
The error meant 15,841 cases between 25 September and 2 October were left out of the UK daily case figures.
The new cases have now been added, meaning the total number of cases in the local area has seen a disproportionate increase this week when compared to other recent weeks.
As of yesterday, the Moorlands has now registered a total of 529 cases, an increase of 50 compared to the total of 479 from Biddulph Nub News's update last week.
Staffordshire as a whole (excluding Stoke-on-Trent) now has a total of 5,696 recorded cases, an increase of 657 compared to the 5,039 in last week's update.
In more positive news however, the Moorlands has returned to another week of zero recorded Coronavirus deaths, after the first Covid-19 death since July was recorded in the district last week.
The figures mean that the number of people who have died from Coronavirus in the Moorlands remains at 80.
There has also been only one death in the whole of North Staffordshire this week - it was recorded in the Newcastle-under-Lyme area.
Coronavirus deaths statistics are released by the Office for National Statistics in updated localised data each week.
The latest figures were released earlier today (Tuesday) for the week ending Friday, September 25th.
Of the 80 Moorlands deaths, 57 have taken place in hospitals, 16 have occurred in care homes, three have occurred at home, with two at other communal establishments, one in a hospice, and one elsewhere.
