Covid-19 testing is taking place in Brown Edge this week - how to book a test

By Jack Lenton 11th Jan 2021

Covid-19 community testing is taking place in Brown Edge this week, with tests beginning from today (Monday, 11th January).

Testing will take place at Brown Edge Village Hall from 9am - 3pm, and will also be taking place tomorrow (Tuesday 12th January) and on Wednesday (13th January).

A spokesperson for Brown Edge Parish Council said today: "At the time of writing this post there is lots of availability for testing.

"This is community lateral flow testing with results within 20-30 minutes. The purpose is to try and identify anybody carrying the virus asymptomatically. Therefore you *do not* need to have symptoms in order to be tested there."

They added: "Community asymptomatic testing is a major new tool to help identify and isolate individuals who have COVID-19 but do not have symptoms and may inadvertently be spreading the virus.

"Alongside the deployment of tests to NHS front-line staff, social care and other critical settings, testing of asymptomatic individuals within the community can help suppress COVID-19 and offer communities a direct route out of the toughest restrictions."
