Biddulph residents have been offered support to get their blue disability badge in upcoming drop-in sessions.
The sessions have been organised by the Biddulph Local People's Project, in partnership with Biddulph Town Council, and aim to help eligible residents to apply for their blue badge, who may have struggled to do so on their own.
Blue badge holders are entitled to a range of benefits designed to help them park closer to their destinations.
This includes parking in disabled bays, parking on single or double yellow lines for up to three hours, and parking for free in pay-and-display areas.
The drop-in sessions will be running in Biddulph Town Hall on the first and third Tuesday of every month, starting on Tuesday, 6th October.
The scheme has been welcomed by residents, with one commenting: "Brilliant, I know such a lot that really struggle with the online process, it didn't make it very accessible. Well done."
Another added: "What a good idea this is."
Residents will need to bring a range of documentation with them, including:
- Proof of identity (passport, birth certificate, driving license)
- Proof of address (council tax bill or government letter)
- Proof of benefits (if you receive any)
- Documents relating to your condition, diagnosis letters, hospital correspondence.
- National insurance number
Residents will also need:
- Contact details - phone number and email address
- Photo (or a digital photo can be taken for you)
- Existing blue badge number (if you have one)
Residents will also need to provide further details if they:
- Use any mobility aids
- Take any medication for their condition - healthcare professionals' names and details
They will also need a debit or credit card to pay £10 for the blue badge online.
