Elections 2021: Liberal Democrat candidate John Redfern explains why you should vote for him

By Jack Lenton 5th May 2021

It's election time, and candidates all over the country are battling for the public's votes ahead of the big day on May 6th.

This also goes for Biddulph, where two seats at Staffordshire County Council are up for grabs - one in Biddulph North, and one in Biddulph South and Endon.

With the election getting closer by the day, we got in touch with all six Biddulph candidates to ask them to briefly explain in their own words why they think they deserve your vote.

Over the next few days, we will be posting their responses so you can read what they had to say and make your decision.

Lastly its the turn of John Redfern, who is standing in Biddulph South and Endon for the Liberal Democrats.

John works at the University Hospital of North Staffordshire and during the pandemic he has trained staff at the Covid-19 testing site at the Bet365 Stadium as well as cleaning over Christmas on Covid-19 wards and theatres.

John has been a Town and District Councillor for over 30 years representing Knypersley and lives locally in the ward he represents.

He said: "My number one priority will be improving the local transport infrastructure which has been underfunded for years.

"Pavements and roads need serious investment to bring them up to standard.

"There is a real need to sort out parking issues associated with schools which local residents find annoying when people park irresponsibly outside their properties.

"The council needs to focus grants on local businesses to help them return to normal post Covid-19 and contribute to employment and local economic recovery."
