Flood alerts have been issued around the Biddulph area as Storm Christoph is set to bring in a significant amount of rain.

The Environment Agency has asked residents around the area to "be prepared" for the risk of flooding in the coming days.

The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for Biddulph, although this becomes an amber weather warning just north of Congleton.

In the yellow warning, the Met Office said: "Spells of prolonged and heavy rain may lead to flooding and disruption to travel in places."

And in the amber warning, they added: "Heavy rainfall combined with some snowmelt across the hills is likely to lead to flooding."

Across the country as a whole there are currently 163 flood alerts and 23 flood warnings issued by the Environment Agency.
