Community groups, parish councils and schools with projects that help tackle climate change are being reminded that there is still time to apply for funding.

The Climate Change Action Fund is being delivered by Staffordshire County Council and is available to not-for-profit organisations in Staffordshire.

Groups have until Friday, 29th January to apply.

Some successful projects have included a community shop who received £780 funding for a temporary flood barrier, £750 towards a school bike shed and £1,000 funding to upgrade to LED lighting in a refurbished community building.

Julia Jessel, Cabinet Member with responsibility for climate change at Staffordshire County Council said: "Tackling climate change remains a priority for the county council. It's an issue that affects all of us, but if we all do our bit we can make a difference.

"Projects that reduce the amount of carbon produced, improve air quality or help people to deal with climate change events such as heatwaves or flooding are all likely to be eligible.

"Our fund is all about supporting community groups to make a difference and we have seen some really innovative projects come through so far. There is still time to apply so I would urge people to speak to their local county councillor in the first instance and make an application before the closing date."

More information on the fund and how to apply, along with other funding opportunities is available here.
