Ever wondered which local community organisations are supported by funding from the town council here in Biddulph?
The council allocates £74,000 to local community groups each year, which is used to fund new activities and projects.
The council's main priorities when it comes to allocating grants are for young people (aged 13-19), carers, people at risk of loneliness and isolation, opportunities providing educational experiences and provision to improve social welfare and community cohesion.
Applications for grants are still open, and those who want to find out more or apply can do so on the council's website.
The most recent full list of grants awarded by the council in the 2020-21 financial year is available below:
- Biddulph in Bloom: £25,000 - Provision of tools and equipment for volunteers and the development of plan displays. - Citizens Advice: £25,000 - To fund the core service of the Biddulph Office for CAB. - Knypersley Cricket Club: £2,100 - Purchase a cricket square mower. - Biddulph Lifeline: £2,000 - To maintain the existing installed units (purchasing batteries / pads). Assist in the provision of additional units for new sites. - First Biddulph Moor Scout Group: £2,000 - Running costs in the absence of fundraising opportunities. - Green Fingers: £2,000 - Refurbish the polytunnel. - Moorlands Voluntary and Community Transport: £2,000 - Administration costs of running the voluntary transport office. - Green Tree House: £1,200 - Supplies for the food club. - Biddulph U3A: £1,100 - Purchase of stacking chairs / Titon Water Heater. - Friends of Biddulph Valley Way: £1,000 - Heritage bench, additional plaques. - Knypersley Bowling Club: £1,000 - Next season's green maintenance cost, including greenkeepers fees, grass seed, fertiliser and chemical treatment. - Douglas Macmillan Hospice: £882 - Syringe drivers. - Brown Lees and District Community Association: £750 - Plants, compost, soil improvers, more large posts and spring bulbs. - Biddulph Bowling and Recreational Club: £500 - To enclose the existing outdoor veranda. - Moor First School: £500 - Reading areas and more books regarding sport and suitable for boys. IT hard drives and headphones. - Support Staffordshire: £500 - Support for voluntary / mutual aid agreements in Biddulph. - Biddulph Local People's Project at the Hub: £480 - Room hire at BiddulphT own Hall.
