A group of international teens are hoping to visit Biddulph High School Sixth Form in September. Have you got a spare room/spare bed?

"By welcoming a teen in your home they can really experience what the real English life is and not just what they see on television" said Kerry Ferguson.

Kerry is the Director of Cultural Exchange for Study Abroad UK. The programme has linked with Biddulph High for two decades. Each year a new cohort of teens attend the school giving sixth formers the opportunity to learn about teenage life around the globe.

The students also help out in school. They support language classes encouraging pupils to learn a language, give presentations about their home life, help coach sports and arts.

Kerry said the students range from ages 16-18. The goal is to fully immerse them in the life of a local family. They've already studied the English language for several years but this allows them to really practice, and the host families get to learn about life overseas

"Not everyone can travel the world, then having international students come to stay in your home is the world coming to you," said Kerry.

Kerry said the program builds lifelong relationships, with host families and students even visiting each other years later. She hopes it provides a sense of unity across the globe.

"We're all different nationalities and come from different cultures, but we're all human beings and it's wonderful to have people connect and get together and realise that we're far apart but we're very close, and that brings understanding of the world and of the people that compose it," said Kerry

You don't need to be a family or even a couple, as long as you can open your home to teen coming to Biddulph. We cover the cost of hosting so you are not out of pocket.
