How will Coronavirus change Staffordshire's elections tomorrow?

Residents across Staffordshire will be voting on Thursday for who they want to represent them at the county council – but if you're popping out to the polling station you may notice some changes to the election arrangements.

Covid-19 security measures are being brought in to make this year's elections as safe as possible for voters, polling station staff and those who will be counting the ballot papers. Voters are being asked to wear a face mask in the polling station, unless they are exempt, and bring their own pen or pencil to mark their paper, as well as following signs and guidance from staff to ensure social distancing.

Polling stations will be open between 7am and 10pm on Thursday. Changes to some polling stations this year mean some venues may be different to the ones have used for previous elections however, so check where you need to go before you set out.

In Staffordshire a number of polling stations have moved from schools to other venues to minimise disruption for pupils already affected by closures during the previous year. And some community centres that usually host polling stations are currently serving as Covid vaccination centres, so voters are being asked to attend alternative venues to enable jabs to continue.

Your venue details will be printed on your polling card. But you do not need to take the card with you in order to vote.
