A decision is due this week on whether a local shooting club will have its license removed after police claimed it broke Coronavirus restrictions.
Staffordshire Police said they found a number of Covid breaches taking place at the Cloudside Shooting Grounds, which is around two miles North of Biddulph, and asked for its license to be revoked.
Police said, during a visit to the shooting grounds in December last year, they found five people drinking and eating mince pies inside the building, which was a breach of the Coronavirus restrictions in place at the time.
Police also said they obtained CCTV footage of the club and found breaches taking place on several other days in December, with no social distancing and few Covid precautions in place.
However, the club has argued that it is located in Cheshire and not Staffordshire, meaning it was only subject to Tier 2 restrictions at the time, rather than the Tier 3 restrictions imposed on Staffordshire.
The license was originally due to be reviewed in March, but this meeting had to be cut short due to technical difficulties.
A meeting of Staffordshire Moorlands District Council's Licensing Sub-Committee has now been rescheduled to take place on Thursday this week.
Police also claimed that the CCTV footage revealed other breaches of the club's licenses, including guns being left unattended and carried without being inside the correct cases.
The meeting's agenda can be found here when it is published.
