A man was arrested for blowing over the legal drink driving limit, but then de-arrested after later blowing within the legal limit as police attended an incident involving an overturned car this week.

Police attended a road traffic incident which involved a white Seat Ibiza overturned on its roof in Brindley Ford on Tuesday evening.

After being breathalysed and showing a blood alcohol level above the legal drink driving limit, a man was arrested and then taken to hospital.

However, at hospital he was breathalysed again, and this time he was shown to be within the legal drink driving limit, and was de-arrested.

A spokesperson for Staffordshire Police told Nub News: "Police were called to Outclough Road in Brindley Ford at approximately 10.40pm on Tuesday (4 October) after receiving reports of single-vehicle collision.

"Upon attending the scene, officers found a Seat Ibiza which had overturned in the middle of the road.

"All of the occupants had exited the vehicle prior to officer's arrival.

"One man was breathalysed by officers at the scene which gave a reading above the legal limit.

"He was arrested but taken to hospital as a precaution, where he provided a reading within the legal limit.

"As a result, he was de-arrested and officers left him in the care of medical professionals."
