The Met Office has issued a yellow snow and ice weather warning for Biddulph and its surrounding areas this week, with the town set to be hit by snowy and icy conditions tomorrow (Thursday 6th January) and on Friday.

The warning is in place from 8pm tomorrow evening to 11am on Friday morning, with "frequent sleet, hail and snow showers" predicted to take place over this period.

The Met Office says the weather conditions "may lead to some disruption to travel during Thursday night and Friday morning."

What to expect

- Some roads and railways likely to be affected with longer journey times by road, bus and train services

- Probably some icy patches on some untreated roads, pavements and cycle paths

- Some brief power outages are possible with a risk of isolated lightning strikes.

- Some injuries from slips and falls on icy surfaces

People have been asked to take extra care if driving or cycling, and advice on how to do this in safely in snowy and icy weather can be found on the Met Office website.
