Moorlands Coronavirus death toll rises to 76

Seventy-six people have now died from Coronavirus in the Staffordshire Moorlands, the latest figures have shown.

Three more people from the district died from the virus in the week ending Friday, July 3rd, according to new statistics released earlier today (Tuesday).

Two of the three deaths occurred in hospitals, with the other death taking place in a care home.

This means that Coronavirus has now been involved in around 12% of all deaths in the Moorlands since the start of the year, with 629 people dying from all causes in the district so far in 2020.

In total, 55 of the 76 Coronavirus deaths occurred in hospitals, 14 took place in care homes, three people died in "other communal establishments", two died at home, one died at a hospice and one death was recorded "elsewhere".

There have been 371 confirmed cases of Coronavirus in the Moorlands since the pandemic began, and 3,733 in Staffordshire as a whole.
