Moorlands residents have been thanked for helping to increase the district's recycling rates by putting the correct items in their bins.
Despite the changes we've all had to make due to Covid-19, residents across the Moorlands have continued to recycle their waste, leading to an increase in local recycling rates.
By not putting incorrect items in their bins, residents have caused a modest but noticeable improvement in recycling rates over the last year - from 56% to 56.4%.
Waste collection services have continued unchanged throughout the restrictions with many people showing their appreciation for the crews with drawings and messages of thanks.
Councillor Sav Scalise, Cabinet member for the Environment, said: "This is great news which is entirely down to our residents - we could not have achieved this increase without them.
"It has come at a time when we have all faced additional challenges so the continued priority people have placed on recycling - and putting the right things in the right bins - is very much welcomed.
"It's one of the biggest ways our residents have helped waste collection crews during this period and, on behalf of the Council and our waste partners AES, I'd like to say a big thank you to everyone for your ongoing commitment to recycling.
"As we all get used to new ways of living and working I hope we see these good habits maintained so our recycling rate continues to go up."
A council spokesperson added: "We'd like to say a big thank you to all our residents for their continued support for all our collection crews.
"You can continue supporting our teams by recycling correctly, something we've already seen you do this year with an increase in the amount of recycling being collected."
