A new sweets business in Biddulph is aiming to satisfy people's nostalgic cravings by offering custom pick 'n' mix boxes.
Laura's Lollipops was started by Biddulph resident Laura Chapman in June. She had the idea to start the business after spotting a stall selling wax melts and noticing that many people were mistaking them for sweets.
Now Laura is hoping her budding business will one day be successful enough to allow her to open her own shop.
She told Nub News about how her business was going and her plans for the future.
She said: "I started the business early June after attending many events with the Body Shop. I noticed a young girl selling wax melts but a lot of people thought she was selling sweets! I spotted an opportunity right there and Laura's Lollipop's was born. I attend many local events and have recently set up an Etsy shop.
"The business is going well, I have just over 300 group members, lots of events booked and regular orders coming in."
When asked whether her own love of sweets was part of the inspiration to start the business, she said: "Who doesn't love sweets? It would be hard to choose my favourite, but right now it has to be bubble gum bottles."
On whether her business was targeted more towards children or adults looking for a nostalgic pick 'n' mix experience, she added: "It's definitely both. I've just done a retro box with 90's sweets inside that has proven popular. The most popular sweets are cola bottles, fruit salads, black jacks and pink pigs."
And on her plans for the future she said: "My aim is to set up a website and maybe a shop one day."
