There are over 100 more cases of Coronavirus in the Staffordshire Moorlands than was previously reported, new Government data has confirmed.
Previously, the Government's figures contained only cases of Covid-19 found through lab-confirmed tests, which are known as "Pillar One" tests.
Using this data alone, the district's number of confirmed cases was thought to have been 254 at the latest count.
However, new data released via Public Health England's daily coronavirus update now also includes "Pillar Two" tests, such as those carried out using home testing kits, or those recorded at regional testing centres.
As such, figures released last night (Thursday) have shown that there are actually 364 confirmed Coronavirus cases in the Moorlands - over 100 more cases than the data had previously shown.
The increase translates into a rise of over 43% in confirmed Coronavirus cases in the district.
Staffordshire as a whole now has 3,624 confirmed cases; an increase of over 1,200 on the 2,415 cases that were previously reported - marking a 50% rise in case numbers for the county.
The number of recorded deaths caused by Coronavirus in the Moorlands remains at 69.
The University Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Trust have reported one further death since Wednesday, taking the total to 346.
