Nominate your Biddulph lockdown heroes!

By Jack Lenton 1st Feb 2021

There are many unsung heroes who provide support to their local communities day in day out.

People who empty our bins, deliver our post, work in our shops and provide healthcare are just some who have gone over and above during the pandemic.

The Royal Stoke University Hospital Charity wants to recognise people who might be working in some of the essential services or might have volunteered to help someone in their hour of need with an act of kindness. So, the UHNM Charity is encouraging local people to nominate someone they know for special recognition as part of a new campaign.

The charity is on the lookout for individuals, organisations and community groups to feature in a new campaign celebrating the efforts and contributions of local people who have gone above and beyond the call of duty during the Covid-19 pandemic.

The 'Who's Your Hero' campaign will feature nominations on UHNM Charity's social media channels in a bid to celebrate community spirit whilst the people Biddulph and the rest of Staffordshire are all facing the challenges of lockdown life.

Lisa Thomson, Director of Communications and Charity at UHNM said: "This exciting new campaign is all about giving back to the community who have been there to support us during the pandemic. These are challenging times for everyone, but we are lucky to have such amazing people in our community and we want to capture and celebrate some of the unique stories about how local heroes have supported a colleague, relative family member or neighbour. We are hoping as many people as possible join in and shout out about a local hero they know."

The campaign will focus on a range of different members of the community in various themed days including Hero of the Week, Junior Heroes and Feel Good Friday.

Steve Rushton, UHNM Charity Manager added: "We want to bring the community that we serve closer to us. As part of the campaign, we're excited to share different topics each day, giving people the chance to nominate a hero of the week, highlight the fantastic work of local businesses and share tips and advice on how you can make a difference to those around you during these challenging times."
