A Biddulph garage is to be turned into holiday let accommodation after planning permission was granted by Staffordshire Moorlands District Council.

Mr and Mrs Stirk submitted the application relating to the garage on Pines Lane, Biddulph Park back in June, seeking permission for a change of use for the garage.

A planning statement prepared by Chandler Watson Consultancy on behalf of the applicants explained that a growing interest in rural tourism is leading more landowners to explore the idea of offering holiday accommodation.

The statement describes how the detached garage will be transformed into a one-bedroom self-contained holiday unit.

It adds that the work would improve the external appearance of the existing building and would also play a role in supporting the local economy.

The application received one public comment, by Paul Timson & Carol Tristram, who objected due to concerns that it would lead to additional vehicles being parked at the location.

Biddulph Town Council, on the other hand, recommended approval, with council members believing that tourist accommodation was necessary within the town.

And the district council's planning officers have approved the application this week, considering the plans to be in accordance with the authority's local plan, as well as national planning policy frameworks.
