Plans have been approved for the construction of a new home on the site of an old police station in Biddulph Moor.
The plans were submitted to Staffordshire Moorlands District Council by a Mr & Mrs S Jones, and relate to an area of land adjacent to New Street.
The plans state that the applicants intend to use the forthcoming building as their new home, and that the building will be comprised of one storey with room-in-the-roof accommodation.
A statement prepared on behalf of the applicants by Epoch Architecture explained the history of the land.
It said: "The existing dwelling on the site was previously the local police station for the village. However this use ceased in circa. 1985 when the building became a private residential dwelling.
"To the building's West facing elevation is a later addition flat roofed garage which is proposed to be demolished to site the new dwelling."
A report by the district council's planning officers gave approval to the application.
It concluded: "The proposed dwelling is acceptable in principle in this large village location and the amended design and layout would not harm the visual or residential amenities of the area or affect highway safety.
"The application would therefore comply with the Council's Local Plan as well as being in line with the government planning guidance."
