Staff at Biddulph Valley Surgery have issued a plea for local residents not to discuss them negatively on social media.

The local care centre, which is based on Wharf Road, says that its team is working "exceptionally hard" and added that seeing negative comments about the practice on social media "affects the team tremendously".

They also commented that they are "open to suggestions" but asked for concerns to be raised "through the appropriate channels".

They said: "Unfortunately it has come to our attention that Biddulph Valley Surgery has been discussed negatively on social media.

"Our team work exceptionally hard to provide a good service to our patients, and we are very proud of the team we have. Seeing continuous negative comments affects the team tremendously; and we have a duty of care not only to our patients, but also our team members.

"We ask that any concerns are raised through the appropriate channels, and not via social media. We are always open to hearing your suggestions and we understand that this is needed to continually improve and provide the best service to our patients. We can only do this when your concerns are raised with us directly. Our practice website has more information on how to appropriately raise any concerns.

"We have followed national guidelines throughout the Covid19 pandemic. While COVID restrictions have largely been lifted for the public, GP practices still need to take precautions such as the continued use of PPE and limiting the number of people inside the building.

"Thank you for taking the time to read this message."

Residents have since commented messages of support on the post, with one saying: "I have no complaints about Biddulph Valley Surgery. I have always received excellent treatment from the reception staff, doctors and nurses."

Another added: "I am going through palliative care now and the service i have received has been top notch. All the NHS have been amazing."

While a third commented: "I can honestly say I've received the best care this last year so thank you for taking care of me this year and for the ongoing treatment. I'm so grateful for all you've done."
