Police officers and cadets conducted searches for knives in local parks around the Moorlands as part of a new operation this week.

A spokesperson for Staffordshire Police's Moorlands team said: "On Saturday 19th November 2022, Staffordshire Moorlands Cadets along with local officers conducted searches across different parks in the Moorlands to search for knives and sharps as part of OP SCEPTRE week.

"A targeted operation to make our treasured open spaces a safe and knife free place.

"This campaign enables us to ensure residents are safe from knife crime in the community and to educate and reassure young people that they are safer not carrying knives, and to walk away from harm.

"The assistance of the Staffordshire Moorlands Cadets is greatly appreciated on all the operations that we run. A great turn out from the team."
