Police have asked residents in the Moorlands to report any incidents of fuel theft due to an increase driven by rising prices.

Officers say they are cracking down on anyone visiting the Moorlands with the intentions of stealing fuel.

The announcement comes as petrol and diesel prices continue to rise all over the country.

Moorlands residents have also been asked to ensure their fuel is stored securely.

Moorlands PCSO Rebecca Gorman said: "Due to increasing fuel prices we are seeing an increase in fuel thefts across the country and within the Moorlands.

"We are looking to disrupt and capture individuals visiting our locality for this purpose.

"Please ensure any large quantities of fuel are secured.

"Should you see any suspicious activity in such locations please let us know via contacting 101 or using the Staffordshire Police online facility on the Staffordshire Police website.

"Please call 999 to report a crime ongoing."
