Police warning after Moorlands livestock thefts reported

Officers are urging people to be vigilant and report any suspicious activity surrounding livestock after a series of thefts and other incidents across Staffordshire in recent weeks.

Offenders have stolen and in some cases killed sheep, cattle and pigs, with farm locations in the Moorlands reporting incidents.

Incidents have also been reported in East Staffordshire, and four incidents were reported in Lichfield in April, June, August and September last year.

Most recently, officers were called to Perton Mill Farm, on Bridgnorth Road, South Staffordshire, to reports of a theft of sheep.

Police attended and discovered one ram and three sheep had been stolen, valued at approximately £300.

Two men aged 29 and 24 were later arrested on suspicion of theft after being stopped by police on the on A454 at Swadlincote.

Four sheep were found in the boot of the vehicle.

Anyone with information is asked to message Staffordshire Police on Facebook or Twitter quoting incident number 375 of 5 January.
