A Biddulph resident has praised a "random act of kindness" that was dished out by a shopper in Biddulph's Aldi supermarket over the weekend.

Local resident Joe Goodwin took to social media to praise a "lovely lady" in the Biddulph supermarket on Sunday morning (27th February).

He explained that after he had let her go in front of him in the queue at the Aldi checkouts, she repaid the favour by giving his children £5 to treat themselves with.

The post has since received over 170 'likes to date.

He said: "Random act of kindness from a lovely lady at Aldi Biddulph this morning.

"Loading the weekly shop on to the belt and I noticed a lady with just a bunch of flowers waiting to pay, so of course I let her in front.

"After she had paid, she gave the kids £5 to share and to get something nice. Thank you again if you are reading this, it really made me smile."

Residents have also commented to praise the friendly interaction, with one saying: "How lovely."

Another commented: "Manners cost nothing so well done, and kindness comes back to you."

While a third added: "Community spirit at its best!"

Nub News reported back in November on Biddulph's new Aldi supermarket first opening its doors to shoppers.

On opening day residents queued around the building from as early as 6am waiting to get through the doors!
