A team from Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service has walked more than 2.8m steps for "March the Month" as part of the organisation's ongoing partnership with Prostate Cancer UK.

The marchers finished their month long challenge of walking 11,000 steps a day, raising awareness of prostate cancer and much needed funds.

All of the steps have now been calculated and the team have walked a combined 2,801,857 steps – an estimated distance of 1,479 miles.

The seven strong team also raised £1,700 for the charity.

James Hettihewa-Young, delivery partner manager for the Service, said: "A massive thank you to everyone who sponsored the team.

"The money raised by supporting our March the Month challenge will help fund lifesaving research to stop prostate cancer damaging bodies and lives. March the Month has finished for another year and raised more than £1.6 million nationally so it's great that our team can play a part in this.

"Supporting charities is such a big part of what the organisation does to engage with local communities and we have some exciting plans for the year ahead as we see the further unlocking of society."

If you didn't get chance to sponsor the marchers, but still wish to, you can do so at the Prostate Cancer UK site "Men We Are With You" where you will also find information about the campaign.
