Staffordshire's top 10 lockdown self help e-books revealed
Self-help e-books have seen an increase in borrowing during the Coronavirus pandemic, according to Staffordshire County Council's library service.
And now the service has revealed the county's most popular e-books in the genre, with titles covering health and wellbeing, mindfulness and improving mental health.
Amongst the most popular titles is number-one bestselling book Hinch Yourself Happy by Instagram sensation Mrs Hinch, renowned for her cleaning tips and hacks, which she shares in her book.
Notes on a Nervous Planet by Matt Haig on coping in the modern world and The Chimp Paradox by acclaimed Consultant Psychiatrist Dr Steve Peters were also popular choices.
Since the first lockdown back in March, over 74,000 e-books have been loaned and the number of people using the libraries e-books service through BorrowBox has increased to over 7,300.
Victoria Wilson, Cabinet Member responsible for Libraries at Staffordshire County Council said: "During the lockdowns we've seen a huge spike in the number of downloads of E-books and e-magazines.
"We have seen a particular increase in loans of health related e-books and it's good to see so many people borrowing them to try and improve their wellbeing. Titles cover a range of topics including general health and wellbeing, motivating yourself and dealing with things like anxiety or sleep problems.
"Many people continue to see their library as a trusted place to go for information, including on health matters. So, if you're not a member of the e-book service then now's the time to sign up and take advantage of the resources."
